Black-throated Sunbird Post Afternoon Tea

This Black-throated Sunbird was seen hopping along the pavement just outside the coffeeshop on the way to Fraser Hill town centre. The sunbird sipped away at the flowers, with super fast wingbeats. I had just finished afternoon coffee, going through my old edition of  Craig Robson's "A Field Guide to the Birds of South-East Asia." Which goes to prove that it is always best to sip coffee and have muffins (from Kuala Kubu Bahru's Teng Wun Bakery) before one starts birdwatching:)

Monkey business in the Hill Forest

Langur sitting on electrical pole and behaving very man-like in the hill forest of Fraser Hill. Spotted this monkey on Saturday 25th July evening nearby Jelai highland resort. The latter has become an eyesore to the hill with total lack of maintenance. The langur was a very welcome sight to this part of the hill. Does look like the White-Thighed Surili which according to Arkive website is listed as Near-Threatened Species in CITES Convention List.

Fire-tufted Barbet of Fraser Hill

The fire-tufted barbet is larger than the black-browed barbet. Bulky barbet whose wing flaps can be heard very clearly when it flew overhead across the road at Telekom Loop, Fraser Hill.

Black-browed Barbet of Fraser Hill

Flock of Black-browed Barbets feeding on this fruiting tree at Telekom Loop in Fraser Hill on 25th July 2015 Saturday evening. Fire-tufted Barbet joined in the party later. Cool misty evening when I shot this video of the Black-browed Barbet. Love the colours on the head, nape & the overall greenish hues of this 2B Barbet. The Fire-tufted barbet distinctive calls can be heard in the background of this video amidst the "truuuk-truuuk" calls of the 2B Barbet. Will post the video of FT barbet next.

Bamboo Woodpecker

Bamboo Woodpecker spotted along New Gap Road of Fraser Hill in July 2015. Last bird spotted on that Saturday evening. This is the second time I've seen this woodpecker species in Fraser's. The first was many years ago when walking up the Old Gap Road, when Gap Resthouse was still operational and serving home-made marmalade for breakfast and afternoon tea.
